Peach Upside-down Cake

This is basically just a pineapple upside-down cake with peaches substituted in for the pineapple? It's a pretty tasty dessert, so I hope you enjoy the recipe.

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
3 peaches, skinned & sliced
1 1/3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg

Directions

Heat oven to 350ºF.
Place butter in 9-inch round pan and melt in oven. Remove from oven and sprinkle with brown sugar. Arrange peach slices on top. Set aside.
In mixing bowl, combine all remaining ingredients. Pour over peaches.
Bake at 350ºF for 45-50 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
Immediately place heatproof plate on top of pan. Flip over and let pan sit on top of plate for a few minute to let the sugar drizzle out.
Serve warm. Top with whipped cream if desired.
