A friend in New Albany, Indiana introduced me to the secret ingredient for making great chili: chocolate! You can use unsweetened cocoa or Hershey's bars.
This chili isn't too spicy. If you like more kick then toss in some diced habanaro and/or tabasco sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1.5 lbs Ground beef
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 30 oz diced tomatoes
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2-3 squares Hershey's chocolate
- 3 cans of beans (I used navy, pinto, and kidney)
Directions
- Brown onion, beef, and garlic in skillet. Strain off fat. Put in crock pot.
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, spices, and chocolate. Cook for 1.5 hours.
- Add in beans. Cook for additional 20-25 minutes.
