The meringue topping on these bars is simply fantastic. It provides a great contrast in texture and tastes great.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp water
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup peanut butter chips
- Topping
- 2 egg whites
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
Directions
- Cream butter and sugars. Add egg yolks, water, and vanilla.
- In Separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to sugar mixture, mixing well. Spread in greased 9x9 pan.
- Sprinkle top with chips.
- Beat egg whites with hand mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Mix in brown sugar and mix well. Spread over top of chips.
- Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
