My father would make this family recipe as a treat for breakfast on the weekends. In retrospect, it's more of a dessert than breakfast, but maybe that's why it was such a treat.

Ingredients
- Rice
- 2 cups dry rice
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups milk
- Pudding
- 4 cups milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 cups raisins (adjust to taste)
- Heavy whipping cream
Directions
- In a large pot, combine the dry rice, water, and two cups milk. Cook on low heat stirring occasionally until the rice is cooked.
- Add all the pudding ingredients to the cooked rice. Simmer over medium-low heat for 20-30 minutes.
- Serve hot with the cream.
